What is LEXAN and why do we use it?

What is LEXAN?

First of all, Lexan is a brand name and not the name of the material itself. Lexan is a polycarbonate resin thermoplastic. This means it’s a solid substance that can be reformed in extreme heat, typically 147 degrees Celsius. Its molecules are comprised of repeating subunits. Lexan has the ability to receive high impact without breaking or cracking.

Did you know? The Lexan polycarbonate sheet has an impact strength 250 times greater than that of glass and 30 times greater than that of acrylic. 

Why do we use it?
